Tuolumne Meadows - Lembert Dome pt 1

day 2 of our camping trip to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite, we took the family to the top of Lembert Dome. while only a 800 foot vertical gain from the meadow floor, the top has an elevation of 9,450 feet along with an incredible view of the valley, and domes and peaks all around the meadow.

Terri carried Inara on her back the entire way up, but Addie hiked it all herself, 2 miles up the mountain. Leigh, Dave, and Cami took the trek to the top as well.

Near the top of the dome, we stopped and had lunch. the final ascent to the top of the dome is across a wide, fairly steeply slanted granite surface. after Dave scouted it out, we decided to ascend to the top in pairs. i went first with Addie; we held hands tightly all the way. we went around to the other side of the dome and took in the meadows, then on our way back to everyone else, we decided that we had to climb to the very top of the mountain.

the first 3 pictures below are of Addie standing on top. as cheesy as it sounds, these pictures make me really proud of her. i hope she remembers this--her first time climbing to the top of a mountain. john
