addie's announcement pictures



we took pictures today for addie's birth announcement. we are mailing them out to family and friends who haven't (or won't) have the chance to see her soon.

we thank everyone for their gifts--it's crazy how many folks care about this little girl without even having met her! we won't be shopping for clothes for her for a long time.

addie's first dr. visit



addie had her first checkup on monday and is doing well. she weighed 7 lbs., 9 oz. and grew to 20 3/4 ". you'll see her on her first car ride since we brought her home from the hospital - and today, she went to visit the Danville Police Dept. (they all think she's gorgeous, and that we reproduce well!)....

jp is kicking ass around the house, doing projects all the while and still helping me adjust to being a mother!

addie is born!

doctor friedman arrived, took one look at terri, and quickly preped for delivery. terri pushed once, her head came out, and then with one final push from terri, dr. friedman pulled addie out. he held her and allowed me to step in a cut the cord. the nurses wrapped her up and immediately placed her on terri's chest.






after a short few minutes on terri, they put addie into an incubator, where they cleaned her off, helped her clear her lungs, and checked her vital signs. i got to cut the cord a second time.









time to push






ok, terri is now 10 cm and it is time to push. ally, john, and i gather around terri, and each take up strategic positions at her side. we assist by yelling "1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...10" during each contraction, during which time terri is supposed to be pushing like crazy. rumor has it that i may have been yelling a bit intensely during the pushing.

after pushing for about 20 minutes, we could see the baby's hair. then a few minutes later, we could see the top of the head. after a few more minutes, the nurses told terri to stop pushing so we could wait for the doctor to arrive.

checked into hospital



terri woke me this morning at 4:45 AM with contractions that were 5 minutes apart. however before heading to the hospital, she insisted that she shower and get cleaned up. we finally got checked into the hospital at 6:30 AM, and upon inspection, they found she was 7 cm dialated. well, that explained all the pain she was in. but after getting the epidural, she was all smiles! our friends john and ally rolled into the hospital around 8 am.
