Inara and Terri come home

we just arrived home from the hospital. Inara met the doggies--well she met Dude and Bella, who were very excited to smell her. Paris is currently keeping her distance.

here's Inara's last pics in the hospital, and her first trip in the car seat, coming home from the hospital. she's so tiny!

update on contacting or visiting Terri and Inara

Terri and Inara have moved into room 363 at John Muir. You can call her direct at her hospital room at 925 296-7471. She welcomes visitors--just call ahead to let her know you're coming.

i feel compelled to write something about how incredible Terri was today. i was blown away by her composure through everything--not that i should be surprised, because she was calm and cool through Addie's birth also. today she also shared her birthing experience with our most excellent friends Ally and Leigh--and she insisted that Addie be allowed to come if she wanted (which she did), and this also amazes me...that she is comfortable sharing this moment in her life where she's perhaps at her most vulnerable. and through it all, she was her humorous self, enjoying every moment. Life is beautiful and so are you Terri, I love you.

here are her stats:

Born 1:57 pm

Weight 6 lbs - 10 oz

Length 19 inches

Inara Ann Pulliam

first images of baby girl

1:55-ish baby is here!

new baby girl is here.  everyone is good.  stand by for pictures.

update

doctor is here, they are setting up.  it's go time

update

Terri is at 9 cm.  the doctor should be here in the next 30 minutes.

update

Terri is at 8 cm, and her contractions are just under 2 minutes apart.  won't be long now!!  well it probably will...it would be nice to have time to grab some lunch before this baby comes out.

bored...not much happening right now

honestly i thought there would be more computers in this room.  and they use Windows XP on the main monitoring machine--kind of scary.

this is the iv computer.

i think this controls the epidural.

Leigh arrives, the party is officially on

Leigh shows up, now the birthing team is now complete.  Terri woke up, she's in la la land...at least she's not slurring her speech.

maybe she's not supposed to eat?

Terri ate the danish the nurse had brought in for Addie.  now she's feeling sick, however she says she's not going to throw up.  she's settling in for a nap.

needle is in, she's feeling good!

Should i be concerned that my wife is so happy right now?  she's definitely lovin' the epidural.  maybe i can get a home kit to keep around when she gets pissed :)

here you can get an idea of what the scene is like when i'm live blogging.

could this be the last family pic without our new baby?  next time we'll be 4!

detectable warning search

Addie and I had to leave the room while the anesthesiologist did his thing with Terri's back.  so we walked out and looked for detectable warnings.  enjoy!

5 cm and water broken

Dr. broke Terri's water, and she's dilated to 5 cm.  they are ordering up the epidural.

room number

you can call terri at 925 296-7471

sweet construction site just outside our room

there is a sweet construction project going on just outside our room, viewable from the balcony.

live blogging from delivery room

we're checked into John Muir.  Addie is here, and our friend Ally.  Terri has on the gown-the iv is in too.  haven't checked her dilation yet or started the epidural.
